History

In 1998, Odebrecht, the Owner and Developer of the Sauipe Estate, began developement of the Sauipe Tourism Destination. The Estate encompassed an area of 1750 hectares with 6 kilometers of beach front.
The first phase of development - Costa do Sauipe - in an area of 177 hectares (which represents about 10% of the Sauipe area) began in 1998 and was completed and delivered in 2000. In 2003 the 2nd phase - Casa de Sauipe Grande Laguna was launched followed in 2005 by the 3rd phase - Quintas de Sauipe Grande Laguna. In 2007 phase 4 is being launch - Sauipe Golf Terraces.

The Sauipe Tourism Destination is located on the Coconut Coast of Bahia. This tourism area occupies the entire north coast of the state and offers close to 200 km of beautiful beaches, a mild sea, large areas rich in coconut palm trees, native forests, lagoons, mangroves, dunes and ecological reserves. The area's basic infra-structure includes the Estrada do Coco and Linha Verde highways, alongside the International airport of Salvador (capital of the state of Bahia) which can annually receive up to 6 millions passengers. The Sauipe Tourism Destination possesses power supply and telecommunications infrastructures as well, offering great opportunities for investments in real estate and tourism resorts developments.

The development of the Sauipe Destination was divided into stages, each one with various phases. Until now, approximately 20% of the Sauipe Tourism Destination was developed in the 4 first phases.

Costa do Sauipe - Tourism Destination

The first phase of development - Costa de Sauipe opened in October 2000 - 6 hotels and 1,596 rooms. The resort development is located in an environmental protection area (APA), a privileged area rich in coconut palm trees on the north coast of Bahia, which is 70 km from the Salvador's international airport.
